2024 Special Guest Series
A chance to delve deep into the marine life, bird life and culture that is in and around the loch. We are excited to host one off tours with guest guides who will share their area of expertise with you as we journey around the loch and island.
No experience of paddling is necessary, we have stable sit on tops that are suitable for beginners. You can choose to take a paddleboard if you have experience. The tour will be approximately two hours in length and we are running them at a mega discount deal of £50 pp. Alongside the guest guide will be one of our regular instructors to give paddle tips and keep the group safe.
Line Up -
01 June - 2pm - Birds of Glencoe and Loch Leven with Lizzie Forrester
Already an avid bird watcher? Interested in learning more about the local bird life? Join us for an afternoon on the loch on Saturday 1st June with avian expert Lizzie Forrester. Paddling kayaks we will be able to gain a great vantage point to spot and learn about the likes of artic tern, curlews, shelducks and more.
Lizzie discovered her passion for birds during her undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Ecology and has since worked with the RSPB as well as bird conservation in Brazil. She is now living in Glencoe and excited to get out on the loch to share her knowledge.
13 July - 2pm - Marine Life in Glencoe with Isla Hodgson
Would you like to know more about the world beneath your kayak? Ever thought about what goes on in the depths of a Scottish sea loch?
Special guest Isla Hodgson will be joining us on a one-off tour to talk about the underwater habitats and wildlife of our sea loch. Isla is a marine social scientist and science communicator for the Save Our Seas Foundation, an organisation dedicated to the protection of sharks and rays around the world. She has a PhD in Zoology, ten years experience in the field, and five seasons as a marine biologist and wildlife guide for Basking Shark Scotland under her belt - and as a cold-water diver, she is passionate about Scottish seas. She is never happier than when exploring a murky, freezing loch or weaving through a kelp forest - but don’t worry, we will be staying warm on the surface!
17 August - 2pm - Watercolours on the loch with Lilli from Discover and Draw
Join us to explore the connection between art and adventure on the loch.
Lilli has built a lifestyle and business around spending time in the local environment and sharing her experience with the world. She founded Discover and Draw in 2019 as a way to translate the positive physical and mental impacts outdoor adventures have on our health and wellbeing. Equipped with watercolours and pad we will paddle across the loch, take in the views and spend time putting brush to paper. Lilli will be on hand to set the scene and assist with the creative process.
